How many visits to the dentist should it take for a single tooth removal?

I recently had a tooth removed and while healing I noticed a piece of tooth still in my gum. I quickly returned to my dentist and had it removed free of charge. I yet again have to go back to the dentist office for yet another piece of the same tooth to be removed. Is this normal and how could this be avoided in the future? And should i get another dentist?

2. woooow! definitely get a new dentist that is crazy. it took me one day to get a tooth pulled and i never heard of this happening to anyone else so it can't be normal.
3. Get a new dentist, that one doesn't know what he's doing. Tooth removal should be easy. I had two teeth pulled out and I had nothing like that.
4. Contrary to what most everyone thinks, this is normal. They're called bone spurs or teeth spurs. That means that your tooth was broken down in to chuncks for removal, or it happened when they were removing the tooth and little peices got stuck in your gums or were burried so deep, they couldn't see them.... Perfectly normal for oral surgery. I got them when I got my wisdoms pulled... Some of them hurt like hell, and some of them were pushed out as my gums healed.. Nothing to be worried about in the least.. Either way, they usually do remove them for free considering you paid them to remove the tooth... It's just little particles.. Totally normal.. I work for a dental plan and I get this question all the time..

Hello...OK to begin with the dentist knew he or she failed to remove "all" of the tooth...I would guess that the dentist either got tired working on the extraction or they had another patient waiting and didn't want to keep them waiting any longer...In either case you were not given proper treatment....While the Dentists is obligated to complete the procedure he or she began, if it were me it would be the last procedure they ever done for me. You received totally unprofessional care and the dentists failed to provide you with professionally required services....I might even file a complaint with the State Dental Board as that could possibly prevent someone else from being treated so shabbily and unprofessional. 6. to see a fragments of a removed tooth means that the tooth have been broken since the extraction so you dentist have to look for all the fragments to remove him if he didn't that not sever but its a mistake also he have to remove the granulation tissue don't worry but it a mistake
